“Crazy Love”! Finding love with Ornaete!

What is love?

Is it the emotion of a mother who is hurt when her child falls off the crib? Or is it the emotions of a father who fights with himself when he has to give his daughter away. I think it’s Joey who gets anxious when someone decides to share his food. Oh, my sister says it could be the emotions of a pup lover who jumps with joy when she sees her pet shake his booty.
The million bucks expression of a child when he enters the toy store and those gorgeous twinkling eyes when a hyperactive fashion shopper feels the show window. Is this what you call love? I think it’s a strong emotion. Or the stimulation of your brain behavior.
I have a connection too. Connection with the scintillating Himalayas, the Peruvian lily, the meadows, the mountains. My heart cries and my shadow don’t leave. Does this mean I am in love? But love is measured. And I have a connection.

Wallowing in the wood, while the western wind sweeps away the leaves from the forest. Gripping against the twisted rocks and exchanging greetings with Black Bulbul. Standing towards the edge watching the salmon sky and peachy cheeks run around the bush playing hide and seek. The dwindling of wildflowers and the dimmest light covering the gray mountains. Making a conversation and sharing the mat as the wind bite and smokes of fire left to be ashes. Comforted and blanketed like a transverse lie and waking up to the glistening rays by stockings and the nakedness, delivering a new light. Hope. Love. I will, I can lie here on your shoulder and become one. Forever. In these mountains. And if this is love, it is. And this will remain.

Everyone has a connection. Connection with someone, something. And as strongly I have my strings attached to Mountains, Radhika Joshi the drama queen, the super talented designer, the founder of label “Ornaete” has it with handloom. The world of weaving – the partnership of design process, of knowledge, technique, culture, and experience to create an undefined craft. Radhika brings in all the aspects together to give the urban cosmo fashion world a contemporary modern aesthetic through her garments.

The fashion world has come a long way and has realized and suffered the disappointment of industrial process of making clothes. The learning curve of the subject has been increased leading to an investment for good choices and showcasing the value for handmade. Not getting into the debate of Industry vs. handmade (maybe later), but wearing an exquisite weave reflects our heritage and is a moment of pride and confidence. Talking of the looms chanderi, ikat baluchri, silk instantly comes to our mind and admits all that silk takes away my heart. The texture, the sheen, the filament length, every form is beautiful.
West Bengal is known across the world for its varied features and Mulberry silk from Murshidabad (District in West Bengal) is one of them. It is also known as “Silk Mecca” of east India. To explore the land of sericulture and handloom – Murshidabad has been on my list for the longest time and I don’t know what is holding me back to explore. However, a part of my fascination for mulberry silk was achieved when Radhika Joshi introduced her mulberry collection. After putting on this gorgeous floor length dress made of mulberry silk in stripes and square textures with frey red detailing’s, the character in me evoked. The fabric fitted in the body like it was a part of it and the cut of the dress described my personal style.

Crafting a perfect memory with my love for mountains (forever) and newly discovered fabric, binding together.
