Bloom Where You Are Planted — A Story With Daria

Some connections happen naturally. That’s how my journey with Daria began.

She first visited our flagship store, quietly exploring fabrics and details. There was a gentle curiosity in her eyes — the kind you see in people who feel art deeply. Fast, curious , clarity with focus she had it all.

Not long after, she reached out again. She wanted more dresses, and I invited her to our atelier — our Black Town Kolkata Atelier, where so much of Ornaete’s magic is born.

There, Daria chose pieces that felt true to her. She admired the textures, colors, and delicate embroidery that define our work. It wasn’t just shopping — it was about finding stories woven into each garment.

Daria is from Ukraine. An Expact in Kolkata. She’s a photographer, an artist, and someone who’s walked her own path far from home. She takes her time, but she’s definitely a person who gives back so much more than expected.

Collaborating with Daria reminded me why we say at Ornaete: “Bloom where you are planted.” Her story and spirit have same inspiration elements in our journey of Ornaete which is dedicated to courage, artistry, and quiet resilience.

I was curious to know more ....

In Daria’s Words

“I was born in Ukraine, in a small town surrounded by rivers and fields. Photography became my way to capture the quiet details of life — small moments that often go unnoticed.

When I moved to India, everything changed. The colors, the light, the energy — it pushed me creatively and personally.

Then the war came to my country, and it felt like the world stopped. My family and friends are still there, choosing to live and create even in the middle of fear. I’m so proud of them.

For me, creating is how I stay grounded. When I feel lost, I turn to the sea, dance, books, or conversations that remind me who I am.

I don’t dedicate my work to anyone. I simply choose myself. And I believe that just because you no longer live where you were born doesn’t mean you’ve lost yourself. Sometimes, the journey helps you find your truest self.”

At Ornaete, we believe that fashion is not just about garments — it’s about stories, journeys, and the courage to stay true to who you are.

To Daria: Thank you for trusting us, for your kindness, and for sharing your journey. Here’s to the threads that connect us all. From you I like to inspire our tribe to keep going.
